Synopsis
In Montreal, November 2024, six friends in their twenties attend an underground concert in an abandoned warehouse when a strange sonic blast plunges them into a coma for exactly 77 seconds. Upon waking, each discovers a power linked to emotions: Maya can materialize nostalgia into objects from the past, Thomas amplifies anger into collective violence, Léa freezes people in moments of pure joy, Karim absorbs surrounding sadness and stores it, Inès can read unspoken regrets, and David creates forced empathic bonds between strangers. But their powers are unstable, dangerous, and seem to follow an invisible score. Investigating the blast's origin, they discover the Mnemonists: a secret society protecting humanity's collective memories. The blast was an attack by a dissident faction, the Silent Ones, who want to trigger the Great Forgetting: an event that would erase all of humanity's historical traumas, creating an emotional blank slate. The six friends are the only "Resonants" capable of stopping this, because their powers are fragments of an ancient preservation ritual. But each use of their gifts erases one of their own memories. The group must navigate learning their abilities, internal tensions caused by constant emotional manipulation, and a race against time to stop the Great Forgetting scheduled for the winter solstice. Meanwhile, they discover that one of them might be an infiltrated agent of the Silent Ones, and that saving the world will mean sacrificing their shared past.
